Hi!

I’m Irena

I’m a coach, author, and public speaker in the Health & Weight Loss industry who helps women to put down their fork and pick up their life®.

What are you hungry for?

You’re a smart, capable woman who has a bigger, exciting vision for your life but you are held back because you lack belief in yourself and you are stuck right now and don’t know where to start.

  • You’re overweight. You desperately want to lose weight but so far your attempts to reach – and stay – at your goal weight have been unsuccessful and nothing seems to work.
  • You use food as your therapist. It’s your escape parachute when you feel overloaded and overwhelmed. But you don’t know any other ways to cope with your emotional needs.
  • You can’t find the time for you. You feel overwhelmed by a million things on your to-do list and you’re struggling to carve out enough time for your own needs, but realise if you don’t do something differently, you’ll regret it later.
  • You know things have to change… but every time you try to do something about it you get really busy with work or some crisis, and managing your weight takes a back seat.

I want to let you know that you are not alone! And it doesn’t have to remain that way.

Hey, I’m Irena Geller, Emotional Eating Coach…

I have walked in your shoes on my own journey and I’ve come out the other side – FREE & 50kgs lighter.

I’m a coach, author and public speaker in the Health & Weight Loss industry who helps women to put down their fork and pick up their life.

My specialty is working with women aged 35+, who are smart and capable BUT are stuck and struggling with excess weight, stress and limited self-belief.

The underlying issue tends to be lack of self-belief, feeling overwhelmed and not knowing where to start to orchestrate change. I have experience helping to address the psychological roots of overeating, and building confidence so that beginning to take action towards goals is achievable, leading to desired results.

One of the things I’m often asked is:

“How did you get started in all this?”

Imagine, a little girl who is barely 11, the age her Ukraine-born parents uprooted the family to Sydney, and she suddenly finds herself responsible for her one year old brother, while her parents worked, with no friends and no English.

She is feeling lost, anxious and alone, and then one day she meets Willy Wonka, who takes her to his Chocolate Factory – a delicious fantasy that promises to comfort her and fulfil all her emotional needs. She floats on a smooth, chocolate cloud, imagining exactly how delicious and comforting it’s going to be: candy flowers with cream tops, gobstoppers that last forever and the most delicious, delectable candy berries… and suddenly all her troubles disappear.

Food becomes her friend and constant companion, consuming her every thought. It soon becomes an addictive cycle where the pursuit of food takes over much of her life and she becomes a prisoner of her own mind stuck a vicious cycle of blame, guilt, regret, self-loathing and isolation.

That little girl was me…

After many struggles with emotional eating and basically having ‘too much on my plate’, most of my life, I decided enough was enough. About 8 years ago, I was stuck and fed up with the endless cycle of yo-yo dieting, starting, falling off track, and getting nowhere fast. I tried every method, every therapy, and read every book on the subject, but nothing worked until I discovered the life-altering truth:

The key to sustainable change is through the mind!

I tried every method, every therapy, and read every book on the subject, but nothing worked until I discovered the life-altering truth:

The key to sustainable change is through the mind!

By resolving the conflicts at the root of my emotional eating , working through my mind blocks and with the help of a coach, I finally found FREEDOM and took control of my eating, my weight and my life!

Health & Wellness Coaching helped me unlock the treasure chest of my life!

This allowed me to create a life aligned with my authentic self and my core values. And best of all – it  awakened my courage, helping me build confidence and unwavering self-belief!

For as long as I can remember, I’ve been unquenchably curious about the mind and body connection. I wanted to know, what is it exactly that makes people confident, happy and believe in themselves? And why do some people struggle with self-sabotage, doubt themselves and have no faith in their ability, while others find a way to thrive, often despite the most challenging circumstances?

‘Remember that diamonds are made from coal under pressure and it’s the grit in the oyster which creates the pearls!’

Before entering the health and wellness industry, I studied Biomedical Science at UTS, and my dream was to be a doctor. However, my creative side was too strong and I indulged it by building an internationally successful women’s brand called Lucky 13, where I spent the next 18 years. But the stress of managing a thriving business, caring for a young family and total lack of self-care resulted in adrenal burnout that claimed 6 months of my life. My solution was to binge eat or starve myself. It exposed a far deeper problem with eating disorders that started when I was 11.

But that’s all just words. The real value I can bring is conquering my own mindset!

I went through a massive mind and body transformation, giving me the courage to pursue my true passion – working in the health and wellness industry. I can now say that I found freedom from Emotional Eating and I no longer use food as a cure for stress, tiredness or pain. Paired with qualifications in biomedical science, nutrition, positive psychology, health and wellness coaching and personal training.

Now my life’s mission is to give something back and to share, with you, the lessons I have learned.

Through my own experience (complete with the inevitable obstacles), the realisation that permanent success is achieved through understanding how your own body and mind work and then applying the right principles to create a massive physical and mental shift is clear.

I believe that we are all hungering for something…and it’s usually not food itself.

I believe that we are all hungering for something…and it’s usually not food itself.

Your mindset is so powerful it can keep you stuck.

Most eating problems aren’t actually about food. They are about self-soothing. Many smart, capable women have been shown unsuccessful ways to self-soothe from an early age. These ways are mainly about finding an escape exit to evade whatever is troubling them.

This philosophy, my actual ‘on-the-streets’ experience both as my very own first weight loss ‘client’ and by helping hundreds of women, is how I stumbled upon what I now refer to as:

The ‘Inner Game of Weight Loss and Transformation’.

I came to the conclusion that ‘losing weight’ and ‘loving your body and your life’ are two different things, and I knew that both are the root of the problem, as well as the solution.

I realised that, emotional eating has nothing to do with lack of willpower, it goes much deeper than that. It’s about addressing habits and mindset, working from the inside out, not the outside in.

No matter how ‘perfect’ your plan or program is, information doesn’t do you any good without implementation. Your program or plan is only effective if you USE it.

Most importantly, I believe that weight loss is a mind game.  Diets don’t work because they are aimed at your mouth. Exercise plans don’t work because they are aimed at your body.

But weight loss is a mind game.

That’s why my approach is largely based on actual brain science (and how to help women finally understand why they do what they do).

I believe that by facing what’s driving their hunger, emotional eaters will abandon their obsession with calorie counting and develop a healthier relationship with food. They will crave eating healthy over losing weight. They will cease the cycle of self-loathing, frustration and fear. They will start to love their bodies and their lives.

I believe that self-empowerment and mastering your own mind are the keys to being free of emotional eating.

My expertise is helping women to find ways of coping with their emotions, without resorting to food. It’s a very personal journey to build self-esteem and self-confidence.

My  own transformation has fuelled a passion to share this work with women who eat emotionally as a way of soothing stress and heightened emotions that result from having to juggle many balls.

  • Women who have lost touch with their bodies, needs and dreamsand feel that they are running out of time and that they are destined to remain this way forever.
  • Women who have had had enough and for the first time, realise that they need to care more about their mental health.
  • Women who are juggling too many balls – a career, life, family, relationships, and worry about portraying the image that they are holding it all together – and constantly beat themselves up and doubt their abilities.
  • Women who are so capable other areas of their life but doubt themselves and lack faith in their ability to change, perpetually stuck in a vicious cycle of ‘quick fix fad diets’. They may ask themselves, ‘I’m so capable in all other areas of my life so why can’t I lose weight?’
